Anxiety and PTSD - What Are They?

PTSD
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is anxiety disorder often linked with combat. Symptoms of PTSD include reliving the event; avoiding situations that remind those who have undergone trauma of the event; experiencing negative changes in beliefs and feelings; and feeling keyed up, also called hyperarousal. Most people have some stress-related reactions after a traumatic event, but not everyone gets PTSD. Those whose reactions don't go away over time and disrupt their lives may have PTSD. Did you know that meditation has been proven to help people suffering from PTSD? If you've never practiced meditation, consider giving it a try with this Beginners Kit.
Anxiety Disorders
Anxiety is a normal biological reaction to a stressful event. For some people, however, their anxiety does not go away and may even worsen over time. They can experience symptoms such as nightmares, a racing pulse, and excessive worry or fear. In persistent cases, anxiety disorders such as PTSD, panic disorders, and phobias may develop. Anxious thoughts are usually centered around fears about the future or regrets about the past. In order to help ease anxious thoughts, it's crucial to be able to release these fears and focus more on the present moment. John Vincent's MindCamp program does just that.

Did You Know?
